Verse of the Week: “Who has put wisdom in the inward parts or given understanding to the mind? Who can number the clouds by wisdom? Or who can tilt the waterskins of the heavens, when the dust runs into a mass and the clods stick fast together? Who provides for the raven its prey, when its young ones cry to God for help, and wander about for lack of food?” (Job 38:36-37,41)
Truth of the Week: Life can be perplexing. Everyday we face circumstances that we don’t understand, situations that cause us confusion, and relationships that we are uncertain of how to handle. Each day brings a new set of details to digest and try to make sense of. “What is going on?” ” What should I do?” ” What will the outcome be?” These kinds of questions often seem to have no clear-cut answers.
Although to ask the “what” questions is ingrained in human nature, God calls us to be still and ask the “Who” questions. Who is is that is sovereignly at work in our lives? Who is completely in control of whatever circumstances we are facing? Who is actively at work turning all things into servants of our good and His glory? Who is it that is always good, always wise, always loving, and always faithful? Who is it that will never fail to keep His promises?
The “what’s” of our lives will be constantly changing – the “Who” of our lives will forever be the same.
Quote of the Week: “God from all eternity did, by the wise and holy counsel of his own will, freely and unchangeably ordain whatsoever comes to pass.” (Westminster Confession of Faith)
