Women are indeed hungry. We are hungry for joy and fulfillment in life. We are hungry for purpose and satisfaction. Ultimately, we are hungry for God, for He alone can fill the deepest longings of our hearts.
Each week, a gathering of ”hungry women” gets together in my home to encourage one another to pursue greater depth of relationship with God. While we are together, we dig into God’s Word with the hopes of discovering more of His glory and we discuss what it looks like to live in light of what He is revealing to us. Our prayer is that we each leave encouraged and challenged to know God more intimately, to pursue Him more passionately, and to surrender to Him more completely.
This site is an extension of our “Hungry Women” group and is designed to encourage those who long to experience greater depth and intimacy with God. Our hope is that others might be inspired to form Hungry Women groups of their own. Above all, may all who visit this site be spurred on to find their purest pleasure in experiencing God as their greatest treasure.
This is a great thing you’re doing. We women need to keep our focus on Christ. There are SO many distractions from the moment we open our eyes to the dreams that flood our “sleep” at night. One of my soapbox hot topics is noise (ironic coming from a mom of 5!). The enemy never wants us to be quiet. He knows that this is when we can hear the whispers of the Divine and the guidance of the Spirit. Technology and culture have provided him with 24/7 access to noise, images, and ideas that tear us away from the open channel between ourselves and God. Whether it is prayer, quiet contemplation with a good cup of coffee, or simply a walk without the ipod, our quiet time brings us back to the source of all goodness, our Creator. And a group like this focuses our attention on what is True.
Good work, Kathy! Thanks for getting in touch with me!!
Dear Kathy,
I just finished reading several of your writings. They so touched my heart. I also just got off the phone with you. Thank you dear sister for helping me see the need to go deeper and to “embrace the trials”. I am excited to see how God is using you and how God is using me. Please pray that I would be willing to follow God’s plan and not my own.
Blessings,
Ruth
Dear Kathy,
It has been such a long time since we’ve connected! I just found out what a small world this is. I went to a school meeting tonight and met your sister-in-law, Lisa. It turns out that our boys go to the same school as your nephews do! I was able to catch up with her about your family and she told me about your blog. What a blessing you are to these women – as you were to me, when I was one of your girls! It would be great to catch up with you. Have a very Merry Christmas!
In Him,
Lena
